WNY WOODTURNERS II
Meetings 7:30 PM; Second Thursday
The President’s Corner by Kurt
Hertzog
I will be
missing this month’s meeting because of an engagement in
For those
who haven’t attended our auctions in the past, here is how it works. Members
bring in items they want to donate to the club. They will be auctioned to bring
the best price and the monies go to the club treasury. It’s an opportunity for
the members to give a bit back to the club through items they might not need or
have plenty of. It’s also a great opportunity for members to get a real
bargain. There are items that will go for a song and on occasion, some items
return year after year only to change hands. Regardless, look for the things
that you’d like to contribute, bring them to the meeting, and have fun. Don’t
forget to bring your spending cash to bid on the items of interest to you. If
it’s turning related, it’s welcome.
We’ve had
our elections and have our officers set for the coming year. One of the things
I’d like to accomplish is getting our chapter incorporated as a not-for-profit
educational corporation. The AAW encourages this and even helps with some
guidance on the particular paperwork. Achieving this will offer many benefits
to the club with little downside. I’ll work with Turners 1 as we go through the
process and bring a proposal forward for the club to consider. Other than that
one item, I plan to continue on our same path. Stay fiscally solvent, add to
the membership, continue to bring the area clubs together, and have fun safely.
See you in
December,
Thanks,
Kurt

It was
suggested that the club become a not for profit corporation to shield the

Tonight
Rich Mialki shared with us how he turns his ducks.
This is a lesson in off -set turning. It was a very comprehensive and
informative demo. Thank You Rich for sharing this and supplying us with a good
hand out so we might give it a try.
To unclog a
clogged or partially clogged spray nozzle, soak it in a jar of acetone or nail
polish remover. Use a glass jar though; this solvent will destroy some types of
plastic. Cap the jar and let it set for a few hours to let the solvent work.
Respectfully
submitted,
Muriel Kummer
