Announcements
Nov.
meeting: Our annual fund raiser. Our annual auction will be held. So bring in
those items you don’t want, and auction them off to the rest of us. All
proceeds to benefit the club treasury.
It was
announced that if the meetings this year were cancelled due to snow days, the
meeting will be held on the following Thursday. Also take note that in January
and June the meeting will be held on a Wednesday instead of Thursday; Jan 13
and June 9.
Old Business
Rich Mialki
informed members that he still has some coupon boxes for sale at $.25 each.
He also
informed the members that 3 children from WNY received their wishes due to the
efforts at the fair by the club members of the three clubs. Special thanks were
given to: Bob Ball, Jim Hilburger, Garry Jones and Rich Mialki for their
untiring efforts for Make-A-Wish.
Rich Mialki
reported on the Cindy Drozda demo. He said the turn out for the free demo at
Pembroke was a disappoint; only 30 people took advantage of it. However, the
hands-on held at Barb’s barn was the best to date. Cindy proved to be very
knowledgeable, and a good instructor. Her project of finials was well received
by all that attended. She must have been good if she got Pat Delmonte to turn
something small.
Rich Mialki
still has access to Buckthorn bush wood if anyone wants some. Contact him.
New Business
Barb Berger
requested that the club purchase Cindy Drozda’s DVD for our library.
The motion
to do this was made and passed.
Paul Mazuchowski informed member he needs someone to take photos of the
member’s show and tell items for the website. Pat Delmonte volunteered for Nov.
along with Ron Hudson.
Pat Boggan informed the member about Woodcraft’s” Turning pens for the
Troops” project, they are sponsoring.
Message
from Pat concerning this project.
I will not
be at Thursday’s meeting. (I'll be in New Mexico) Would you please
mention the Pens for Troops program from Woodcraft?
1.
Due date is November 10th.
2.
Woodcraft will supply: a 10 pack of slim line pen kits,
10 labels for a personal message, and 10 bags in which to put pens.
Turner supplies wood. (they have a sale going on now)
(Woodcraft has a limited supply of kits immediately available, but
should be getting more in soon)
3. If
someone already has some pens turned they can take them into the store and
will be given a 10 pack of kits when they are available for each grouping
of 10 pens brought in.
Thanks,
Any
questions? Just ask before Monday night.
Election of
officers for coming year was held.
A motion
was made and passed to accept the slate of officers presented to the
membership.

ELMER’S CORNER: Slicker Surfaces
with Wax Paper
Found in
December 2009 issue of Woodworker’s Journal.
Rubbing wax
paper on your table saw, jointer, or planner tables will keep them slippery
smooth and rust-free. It’s a good substitute for paste wax.
Respectfully
submitted,
Muriel
