in the amount of $170.00 from Pembroke. That is our share of the profits for
the session with Andy Cole.
Vice
President’s Report
Andy Cole
did a wonderful demonstration. There weren’t as many people present as
expected, but it went well.
Next month we will be having our annual auction. This is the
one fundraiser for the club. You bring in wood, books, woodworking tools and
accessories that you no longer need or use and auction them off. Everybody
benefits. Some get their work shops cleaned out, others fill theirs up.
(2)
Jerry Rucker will do a demonstration on detailing in
December.
Librarian’s
Report
Brian has 2
new DVDs that are well worth watching. They are “Woodturner’s Essentials” and
“Finishing Techniques”. Anyone interested in any of the DVDs in the library,
just let Brian know. John O’Neil will be taking over the Librarian position.
Communications
Ron has
informational pamphlets about joining the AAW. Anyone interested please let Ron
know.
Ron
received an e-mail from Liam O’neil who has taught all over. He is attending a wedding
in Sept, 2013. He is interested in doing a demonstration while here. Ron gave
him the names and information on the other clubs in WNY so he can contact them
as well. He hasn’t given us a fee for the demonstration, but he said we should
check his web site. He mentioned possibly a 2 day session with maybe even a
hands on session. After much discussion, it was decided that we should check
into this more and find out what the interest is before setting up something
definite. Rusty will check into this more fully.
Barb
thanked the club for donating the 3 face shields. Safety is very important and
this shows the clubs’ interest in promoting safety while enjoying your hobby.
Ron mentioned that he had a problem with his face shield fogging up. If you use
a dry bar of soap wiped across the shield then wiped off, it will prevent the
shields from fogging.
Old Business
Nominations
for officers were made last month. Election of officers was put on the agenda
for this month.
New
Business
We would like to thank Rich Mialki for being in charge of
the Make-A-Wish project. He will be leaving the position, so we need someone to
take over the position. I don’t know if we can replace Rich, but we will do the
best we can.
Thanks go
out to Gary Jones. He did a demo at Barb’s Barn and it was very enjoyable.
There were complaints of not enough room to set the lunches on the table. But
the desert was excellent.
John O’Neil
will be leaving the position of photographer for the club. John Lilley would be
willing to take over the photography and taking care of the web site, if
someone will show him what to do. He should speak with Bree. She would probably
help set him up.
Nominations for officers were given last month. They are:
Ron Hudson
for President
Rusty Ellis
for Vice President
Brian Defoe
for Secretary
Pat Bogan
for Treasurer
(3)
Motion was made by Barb to accept the nominations, Gary
seconded the motion. No discussion was needed.
Motion was
made by Barb and seconded by Gary that the slate be elected as is. The motion
was carried.
Would
someone like to take charge of the club lathe? It would mean
bringing
the lathe to meetings and taking it back home again. Ron has had this
responsibility for several years. Anyone interested, please let Ron know.
