Announcements
December 11th,
2008 – Pat Delmonte on bowl turning and his new roughing tool.
John O’Neil
gave the information for the beginner’s turning session to be held at Barb’s
Barn on Nov 22.
Kurt
Hertzog is not seeking another term as the Web master. Paul Mazuchowski said he
is interested and will call Kurt.
Pat Boggan
informed us that there are no coupons at this time for show & tell.
If you have
borrowed any videos, and are done watching them, PLEASE bring them back. John
Chevanne has volunteered to be the temporary librarian.
Dues are
due in January. Remember they are $20.00 now.
Old Business
Jim Hilburger is sending
25 tops to the channel 7 crew, and Barb Berger is sending some bottle stoppers
to thank them for the coverage of the fair they did this year.
New Business
Discussion was held on helping
Pembroke sponsor guest turner to put a demo on in April. Barb Berger offered
her barn for a hands on session if it could be coordinated to bring the guest
in a day earlier. Discussion was tabled to later date, when more information is
available.

Auction
Night. Lots of good stuff was brought in by member to be auctioned off. Jake
Debski did a fine job as the auctioneer. The results, as you can see from the
treasurer’s report, were very successful.
ELMER’S CORNER:
Here’s one
I found in Woodsmith: Splinter-free plywood cuts.
It seems
that the veneer on hardwood plywood just keeps getting thinner all the time.
Because it’s so thin, it splinters quite easily. Taping the veneer at the
cutting line works to a degree, but there is still too much splintering.
Dampening
the veneer with isopropyl alcohol softens it enough to minimize splintering on
the cut edge. The alcohol is a better choice than water because it doesn’t
raise the
grain and
it evaporates more quickly.
