ELMER’S
CORNER
Unlocking
Tape Joints. Found in April 2011 issue of Woodworker’s Journal
Double-faced
tape works extremely well for mounting templates on work pieces ___so well,
that it’s very hard to separate them after the machining operation is
completed. A thin putty knife is usually used to pry them apart. A much easier
and mar-free method is to saturate a disposable glue brush with acetone and
brush it liberally along the edge of the taped joint. The acetone soaks in and
immediately dissolves the tape adhesive so the parts come apart easily. It also
dries quickly and does not raise the grain.

submitted,
