Announcements
VP, John
O’Neil announced the demo for April meeting will be Paul Mazuchowski turning
fluted bowls.
Remember
the fair is not too far away and we are going to need lots of product to out do
what we did last year. Bring in your turnings and we’ll store them for the
fair.
If you have
borrowed any videos, and are done watching them, PLEASE bring them back.
Old Business
President
Hudson tabled any discussion on the dues increase and summer picnic until April
meeting
Rich Crowe
reported on “Carving for Cause.” All
proceeds raised will go to the replanting of trees in WNY. Interest was shown
by members to turn and donate their turning for this cause. Rich is going to
pursue this and obtain the blanks for both clubs for this cause. It seems many
of the trees that were lost in the storm have a story behind them from
different areas of Buffalo. Pat Delemonte and Rich hope to have the blanks available
to member at the April meeting.
New Business
Kurt Hertzog left a copy of Woodworker’s Supply’s latest Big book of
Woodworking which includes a comprehensive line of wood lathes, turning tools
and lathe accessories and a full line of woodworking tools and supplies. If
you’re in the market for any new items for your shop, take a look. The club
members do get a discount.

Kurt
Hertzog did his sharpening demo. This was a very comprehensive demo in
sharpening He touched every aspect of the subject from wheels to tool steel,
stressing simplicity of grinding your tools. He also stressed that you need a
respectable way to present the tool to the grinder to get the best results.
ELMER’S CORNER
This is one
I found in Woodsmith. The use of spark plug gap gauges in the wood shop.
They look like a pocket knife with various thicknesses of metal strips that fan
out, and you can get them at any automotive supply store. Use the metal strips
to push glue into tight spots and under veneers. The different gauge strips can
also be used to check the setup of your power tools.
Respectfully
submitted,
