Announcements
Vice
President, Ron Ellis announced that next meeting the demo will be done by David
Byrne who will be demoing metal spinning. He will be taking a round metal disc
and forming it on the lathe.
Librarian, Paul Boland reported we received from
Nial Hadden a new DVD called “Mastering your Bandsaw:.
Pat Boggan announced that Woodcraft is still: “Turning
for the Troops”: if you are interested in doing this. They also have pen kits
for $7.50 for the fair And Make-A- Wish.
April 17th Jim Hilburger will be turning
at Rockler’s for a new grand opening they are having, and on the 24th
of April they will host another one, at which the club can be promoted if
anyone is interested in setting up a display.
Old Business
Ron Hudson
has registration forms for National AAW symposium to tb held in Hartford,
Conn., if you need one.
New Business
The June meeting will be on Wed.
June 9th
Bring in
gifts for school personnel. As in the past these gifts will be judged by those
present for a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd cash prize.
However, all items donated will be distributed among the school personnel even
if you don’t win a prize.
Location of
July meeting will be decided at May meeting.
August
meeting will be the family picnic at St Nicodemus in Elma, as in the past.
We are
running low on prizes for show & tell. It was suggested the club buy gift
cards. Rich Mialki made a motion, 2nd by Mary Robbins for the club
to buy $10 gift cards from Rockler’s for this purposed. It was passed.
Update from
Rich Mialki on fair, Aug 11 – 22: WJCK Radio, 1230AM, will be broadcasting
there on Friday 4-7PM, and Sat morn 8-10Am, to promote Make-A-Wish and our
efforts for them. Hopefully this will help generate sales.
So, keep
turning product for this worthy cause. It is our biggest money raiser for the
year. We all need to contribute to make a difference
We will
also be entering a Placek bowl in the silent auction at the Make-A-Wish Gala at
the end of the month. Proceeds will go toward our Make-A-Wish total.

stoppers, and seam rippers. Thank You John for sharing with us your skills and

Hassle-free picture hanging.
When you’re
hanging a picture that has a wire across the back, it’s hard to get your hand
behind the picture to guide the wire over the hook. Try this: Slide a piece of
string between the hook and the wall. Put the wire over the string and lower
the picture into place. The string will guide the wire right over the hook.
Drop one end of the string and pull it off the hook. Done.
