Vice
President’s Report
Rusty and Brian
went to the Woodworkers Symposium on March 30 – April 1. Three other club
members were in attendance. It was a wonderful experience and training source.
They highly recommend anyone who can, should go.
Rusty
received information from Pat DelMonte on the Chattauqua-Lake Erie Annual Open
Studio Tour. It will be held May 26 & 27 and June 2 & 3, 10AM to 5PM
each day.
For exact locations go to Chattauquaartstrail.com.
Pat
DelMonte has also volunteered to have the July 12th meeting at his
house.
Librarian’s
Report
Paul has
had shoulder surgery and is healing. The librarian position will be passed on
to Brian Defoe.
Communication
Ron has
received information on the 26th Annual Symposium in San Jose.
Anyone interested ask Ron.
Old Business
The
August 23rd meeting will be held at the St. Bemus Reserve picnic
shelter @4:30PM. Meat, rolls and beverage will be provided by the club. Pat
Boggan will have a sign up sheet for those interested in attending. People
attending should bring a dish to pass. It should be a fun time.
There
has been no news on the grant submitted. Ron will keep everyone updated. (Ron
sent out an e-mail on 4/20/12 to notify club members that the grant money has
been received. More information will follow at the next meeting.)
Some
lucky people went to Hawaii. While there they went to the Big Island and to
Aloha Woods. There they were allowed to go thru the scrap bins and pick out
some nice pieces. I’m sure we’ll be seeing some of these pieces at future
meetings.
New
Business
Since the school
isn’t available to us during the summer months, Pat DelMonte’s offer to let us
come to his house for the July 12th meeting has been gratefully
accepted.
And as
noted above the August 23rd meeting will be a picnic.
The Hamburg
Fair runs from August 8 thru 19. Our group will be set up at the fair daily
starting at 2PM on Wednesday, August 8th. We will need three shifts
per day with 4 sales people and 2 turners for each shift. We accept help from
anyone who is affiliated with the club. Anything you would like to donate will
be sold and the money given to Make A Wish. Entrance tickets and parking
tickets will be made available to anyone working at the booth. Please contact
Rich.
Rich
brought some hand made toys that a buddy makes for good causes. Anyone interested
in finishing these pieces up for the fair, just let Rich know.
Jim Prince
brought in a truck full of bats, 3” wide, kiln dried, mostly maple. Anyone
wanting any, let Jim know.
Anyone who
would like to do chain pulls for the fair, Murriel has the chains. All you need
to do is make the wood part and bring them in. Murriel will put the chain in
for you.
Linda
Bennet was in a terrible accident about a year ago. Just recently, she had
surgery on her shoulder. It is healing. We all look forward to her swift
recovery.
