bowl that was donated by Mark Placek for the fair. And Make-A –Wish. It is a
beautiful bowl out of a board.

Donation of $100 was given to the
treasurer for Make-a Wish by Muriel Kummer and Gary Jones. They did a demo at
Muriel’s daughter’s school for the 2nd graders and received a
stipend.
Jim Hilburger handed out directions
that I wrote and illustrated for him, for the angel he demonstrated at the May
meeting and did a hands on at Barb’s barn on June 6th. If you want
one see Jim.
Paul Mazuchowski informed the club
that the Pembroke Woodturners and Turner’s 1 are bringing in Cindy Drozia for a
demo in Sept. This is to be a no cost demo. He asked if our club wants to help
with the cost. Gary Jones made a motion that our club help defer the cost with
the other clubs. It was 2nd by Paul Mazuchowski. It was passed.
Gary Jones informed the member he
has access to antlers if anyone wants some to turn pens and bottler stoppers
with them. Let him know if you are

Gary Jones
showed us how he makes wine bottle holder out of old wooden golf clubs. They
were a good seller at the fair last year. It is a relatively easy project or at
least he made it look like it is. So scour the garage sales in your area and
collect the old golf clubs to make some for the fair and the kids. Thank you
Gary for sharing this with us.
ELMER’S CORNER:
Here’s one
from the July/August issue of The Family Handyman: Readable Ruler.
If you have
metal rulers and squares that are hard to read because rust and grime have
filled the indentations, brush correction fluid across the engraved marks. Let
it dry, then clean off the dried fluid with fine sandpaper. The tiny marks will
know show clearly , and you can skip buying a more powerful pair of eye glass
cheaters.
Respectfully
submitted,
Muriel
Kummer
