One of the keys to fluting is a good indexing system

The fluting is done with a die grinder and sanding drum

With the flutes layed out he begins the process

While fluting requires a certain touch it is far easier using the grinder than doing it by hand

Having an adjustable table lets you create curved flutes

This technique allows the turner to flute the inside and top also
