Jim shapes the bowl from the bottom up

 

Jim cuts a recess for mounting on the chuck

 

He explains the difference between cutting and scraping

 

The bowl is reversed and the faceplate is removed

The hollowing starts

 

The hollowing is almost complete

 

Jim checks the depth

 

He uses pencil marks to highlight areas that require attention

 

Jim has done enough bowls to check the thickness with his fingers
