A chapter of the American Association of Woodturners

February 2010 Meeting

Jake Debski turned a platter as well

Ron explains his bracelet chuck to start the demo

A circle cutter is used to cut the blank

When turning you have to work up the mandrel so the blank stays put

The outer edge starts to take shape

Ron carefully turns the rest of the outside

Almost everyone stayed for the demo

After sanding a coat of oil is applied

The second half of the demo was monster truck tires

Ron uses his "computer" to make the diameter exact

The jig is turned to 15 degrees

The grooves are cut 1/4" deep at regular intervals

The second half of the tire is cut opposite the first

The two halves are glued together

After drying the tire is rechucked

The inside is drilled with a forstner bit
